Anschutz Euro Silho Pistols ?

The bullets may be smaller but not the challenge.

Anschutz Euro Silho Pistols ?

Post by Gwelo »

Hello,
I've been looking for info on these pistols for several years with not much luck. I believe they were built for European/International (IMSSU ?) silhouette competition so thought I'd see if anyone here can help. Here is the 1416 MSP E Production model with 10" barrel. Anyone own/seen/shoot one?
Thanks,
Nick

Try contacting Anschutz (the manufacturer, not the North American sales outlet) directly. I'm sure if you send them the pictures, they would be more than happy to provide you the background on the pistols. It would be nice to hear the outcome.

I have seen one at an IHMSA world championship. the mannlicher stock was not well liked in the USA for creedmore position.

The model above was sold in the 1990's for about 6 years and almost none were sold in the USA. for info, IMSSU was not formed till 1992.

in 2015, Anschutz released a limited edition 1416 known as the 1416 L P KV 14" Pistol and only 100 were sold in the USA. These were the 1416 action in an Exemplar style stock.

Note: the 1416 pistol uses the same action as the 1416 Rifles.

Some guns were designed around IMSSU rules that differed from IHMSA. As I recall, this gun was approved in Europe for production and standing, but not in IHMSA due to being a bolt gun. There probably were some other reasons as well. The French(?) made Mahurin (check spelling) revolver was an example. If you bought it in the US, the MSRP included shipping from Europe and exceeded the IHMSA price limit. But if you bought it direct from manufacturer, then paid the shipping as a separate fee, it was IHMSA legal.

Thanks for the responses so far!

I found a pic of the 1996 (?) Anschutz Silhouette Catalog cover but have been unable to find the entire catalog.
I also found this page from what I believe to be the above catalog. Check the descriptions!
I also have the "Unlimited" model with 14" barrel seen below. Both this and the "Production" model are dated 1996.

I seem to recall that Jim Harris owned one of the this type of Anschutz (his had the longer barrel). But, I could be mistaken !

They were also chambered in .22 Hornet. Saw one in a Lexington Ky. gun shop some 20 or so years ago. As i couldn't use it in IHMSA I had no real interest in it. I guess they were made for field pistol use.

Bad Eyes: I have sent an email to Anschutz, will update when/if they respond.
braud357: Does Jim Harris belong to this forum? Not able to find him on here.
34isit: I have a couple of the 1730MSP E Hornets as well, shown below.
