What are you guys using other than the Exemplar for small bore in a bolt action pistol?

For many years I have been shooting a Savage Striker in 22LR. I liken it to a barby doll with accsesories not included. Add a Dell Taylor custom trigger, a 2.5x8 Leupold scope and fire away.

Last year I did shoot an 80x80 but missed the last shoot off chicken for a "thanks for coming".

I've been shooting XP-100's converted to .22LR since 1986.

Exemplar mid-griped by Kevin Randolph with a Dewey trigger since the late 80's.

The first thing you will need to buy is a Remington 40X bolt as I understand this conversion.

Steve is correct. Remington won't sell you a bolt, so now you will have to buy a 40x rifle, which isn't cheap. Even then, the bolt must be shortened. Being that it is a mid-locking lug design, new lug raceways need to me cut into the rear receiver ring, then the entire inside of the action has to be machined to include bolt guides and a feed ramp. The barrel is set back into the action so that it is right at the ejection port to allow loading cartridge by hand. There is a tremendous amount of machine work required for this conversion.

The guy who did them made about 100 of them and is no longer making any more.

One of our club members bought a Kimber 22lr action and he and his father made a center grip stock and trigger for it. It is a beautiful gun but he doesn't shoot it much at least at matches. If you can buy a bare action you can at least make one but would be very expensive unless you have some machining skills.
