The quiet competition means you can hear them sweat.

Guns of the game: Air Pistol

Post by Boomer »

I thought it would be interesting & fun to have a thread to show off our “toys”. Glamour shots would be great but “working” pics are also appreciated!

Please post pics of the guns you use for each category & include any particulars about it (caliber/load/optics etc).
To keep the pages loading quickly please limit the size to 640x480 pixels.

If you have problems posting photos go ahead & make your post & email the pics to me at bob[at]ihmsa.org & I will resize & post them for you & then insert them into your post.
Regards,
Bob

I'll start this one. IF our club would ever actually offer Air Pistol, I got this one just for the game, and some winter practice. IZH-46M.

Crosman Mark I pistol converted to a MAC 1 LD in .22 caliber by MAC 1. Leupold 4x pistol scope with parallax reduced to Leupold's shortest distance (I believe it was 15 yards). RB aftermarket grips.

Nice Steve! I have a similar gun by the same folks, except with a 4-12x scope on it. These things are very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.

What is the least expensive way to get involved in air pistol, and still be somewhat competitive?

An AVANTI (Daisy) 747. It takes the Production championship all the time. In 2002 I took the first Production championship at the Internationals in TUSCO with a 77x80. That was with a stock box gun, no aftermarket sights, but I did add a pair of RB grips.

I originally designed this for pistol field target so it is set for a little under 12fpe. That's higher than needed for an IHMSA air pistol but it is still fairly accurate. I used a Benjamin Marauder pistol grip frame with a shortened rifle tube and rifle valve. It is regulated to 1200psi. It gets 60 shots at 12fpe. The HW barrel is a 14.97" long. Overall scoped weight is 6.8lbs.

I recently shot my first matches with it - US and UAS

Is the Crosman Silhouette PCP a good gun for IHMSA air pistol? The add says it is IHMSA approved? I thought about buying one and a set of air pistol targets for practice
