I checked the scores and used my high school education. If my numbers are right and I know I will be punished if not. Melvin had two honor scores a 144 four gun and a 107 three gun. Robert had a 104 three gun. Not bad for the co-match directors. ^:)^

Got a little bit of video this match of our other co-director. I'm still a noob at this youtube thing, though, and wasn't able to preview. So random clips!:

ETA: It seems the link bounces you to YouTube from here, but the "back arrow" button will get you to this thread again.

So, Turkeys...

Gotta like the laser spotter! (But I like my hard copy, too.)

Wow, Turkeys again. Like a rerun, but not!

Again, this video thing is new to me, so sorry for quality dramas!

But some great shooting.

Great videos!!!!
That was some great shooting by MC. What cartridge was he using? He kept his cool on the second bank of turkeys when he had to sit up and seat the cartridge.
Also shows how times have changed about forends. Richard Mertz offered a forend for his MOAs just like Melvin's and the MOA forend was ruled illegal since it had sharp corners that could be pushed into the back of the shooter's leg. The rules committee thought that was a shooting aid. I'm glad to see we got by that bit of confusion.

Caliber is 300/221R (Whisper rimmed) I use a Nosler 190 Custom Competition bullet at 1380 fps.
The forends were never ruled illegal, although Blair Hamilton, who was rules chairman back then, tried his best.
Steve riddle, myself, and a bunch of others were involved in some heated debates with Blair.
My position was that if you are going to ban them, them he would have to ban dead frog position, and also the position I called the Mike Ormiston, where the leg is brought back and the gunnnestled in the crook of the leg. Heck, I have taken yoga for 12 years and couldn'get in that position if I had to.
I told Blair to take 2 shooters, one pushing the gun as hard as they could into the back of the leg, and one in dead frog position. Now have the shooters let go of the gun. What happens?! The dead frog gun just sits there fully supported while the other one falls.
I have no problem with anyone using any position or forend, as it the shooter that is the difference.
