ASCENSION SILHOUETTE

The first Saturday in February marked the first match of 2017 for Ascension Silhouette. A small but enthusiastic group was on hand today, including my neighbor whom I am introducing to the silhouette game. Carey had recently purchased a Ruger Charger and decided to tag along with me to try his hand on the steel targets. With me spotting and coaching for him he made his debut in fine fashion by shooting a Practical Hunter 22LR perfect score for his first every entry. He then tried the Fifth Scale targets and managed a 31X40. This score was impressive in light of the fact that he neglected to correctly adjust his sights when he advanced from chickens to pigs, costing him 4 targets. I guess his coach should accept some blame for this oversight. Anyway, Carey says he’s hooked and plans to return soon. David Heintz let a shot drop low on a pig and it cost him a perfect score in UAS. His daughter Kayla, a new IHMSA member this year, was with us today and shot a fine 35X40 in UAS. Philip shot his usual UAS 40X40. We had a few NRA Cowboy Rifle shooters with us today as well but I’m sorry to report that I don’t have those scores. I think I heard them say that a couple of 38X40s we shot today.
