Crazy Idea

Post by lfpiii »

I was showing a friend my Remington 1858 the other day. He gave me an idea. Has anyone ever shot a black powder match? Would it even be legal?

In field pistol, as long as you loaded a legal cartridge case with black powder, it should be legal. I dont think a ball and cap type revolver would be legal as the rules state “straight wall pistol cartridge with maximum length etc. With the exceptions .22 hornet, 32-20 .22 LR etc.
So cased ammunition must be used. Also I cant see anybody loading a cap and ball revolver in 30 seconds, and handling in a safe manner( muzzle downrange) as proscribed in the rules.
Misfires would be extremely problematic.

But it would be a blast to use cased black powder cartridges. And if the wind was barely blowing you could obstruct the other competitors line of sight and hide their targets :ar! :ar!
Im all about working the advantages!
