Just curious.....is anyone using either of these cartridges for field pistol? If so, how do they perform?

I have seen Bill Urbank shoot his 10" T/C iron sighted (taco) in 32 H&R. He uses it for both field pistol and big bore standing and does very well with his own cast bullets. Free standing BB rams can be stubborn from what he said.

Marcus,

What cast bullets are you using and do you mind "sharing the load"?

Did the 327 Federal even get approved for FP or BB Production?

I bought a TC .32 Mag barrel from i26963 recently, but have not yet shot a match. He supplied some loaded rounds, but From where he got the loading data, I haven't a clue. 130gr pointy bullets on top of VV powder is all I remember offhand without the box nearby.

Seemed reasonably accurate in limited testing on paper and had mild recoil and report.

It's a straight walled pistol caliber. As long as the case is not longer than 1.29" it doesn't need approval. Field Pistol rule reads as follows, "1. Straight-wall, center re pistol cartridges of standard manufacture with a maximum case length of 1.29 inches, as specified for that cartridge." A quick Internet search showed a case length of 1.20", but I don't have a case to measure.

Steve, Normally I would agree but I think there is another place in the rules that states all Production cartridges must be approved by some technical committee. That is the reason for my question.

Lynn,

I reread the Production rules & see no language requiring that. Show me the words please.

Lynn:. Please do not dredge up what is considered a production cartridge. We went thru this 30+ years ago when the MOA came about. A manufacturer came out with a firearm that could more reliably take down rams with its better cartridge selection which was not against ANY rule.

People cried because their current guns were being out classed with better round selection and better sights. Headquarters always wanted manufactures to make something better for the game
