Steve Ware Tribute

Post by Jimologist »

This was my first WCC and I wish I had attended every single one of them. I can't begin to tell you what a great bunch of people were here. I made new friends and caught up with old ones. I have attended 14 International/World championships and 10 NRA Hunter Pistol Nationals.
I have never seen the level of camaraderie that I saw last week in Grants Pass. From the fish fry, to dinners, to breakfasts. This group is close and I felt welcome and included.
Steve Ware runs the best match in the world. It was smooth, on time, no glitches and he should be crowned " The Consumate Match Director" The match started on time every day, the target setters were superb and there were absolutely no glitches. The results were posted every evening within minutes of the match being over.
The mandatory shootoffs really cut down on the necessity of a lot of shootoffs on the last day. Unfortunately the one I had was against Joe Cullison ^:)^

Oregon is one of the most beautiful states I have visited and the area around Grants Pass is simply breathtaking.

Steve has created a fantastic friendly fun match. I hope that I am able to attend every year that he puts it on.

I have two words the describe the WCC. "AWESOME EXPERIENCE"
If you get a chance to go, don't pass it up.
I fly to a lot of the big matches I go to. I would be glad to advise any one who wants to fly with guns. Email me or call me. I am listed in the match directors in Ohio. It is simple to ship your ammo and fly with the firearms.
Thank-you Steve and all of the guys who helped you put this match on!

I will second Jim's comments. This has been my 15th WCC. It is my highlight of the year match. This year I had the pleasure of meeting some new people that attended. Jim Kesser from Ohio. What can I say, other than after meeting you only recently I consider you a friend. Russel Mowles from Australia, super nice guy and I forgive you for taking the Unlimited championship out of my mouth on the next to the last relay of the last day beating my 60 +3 with your 60 +4, :ymapplause: Nice shooting Russel. Also Russel Plakke from Colorado, Graham and Shirley Bakken from Canada (I love their accent), Steve Mosher from Idaho, Then there are the regulars that I have seen for years. Good to see you all again. Again a special thanks to Steve Ware for putting on this fine match. Jim hit the nail on the head "AWESOME EXPERIENCE"

Oh great, Steve will not be able to get his hat on now. I know OH really hated to see him move but our loss is OR gain. There have to be a lot of terrific people out west who make the WCC one of the premier events each year. Job well done to all the crew and of course their captain. One question for Steve, did you ever get more than 19 turkeys?????

Well I know he has shot some great 60 round matches so maybe his nick name could be 15 turkeys.
