FA Rear Sight Question

Post by kerdunk »

I know there will be variations based on different loads, but I’d like to get some general guidance if possible:

From 50 to 100, how many clicks are you moving your rear sight (stock rear sight from FA)?

100 to 150?

150 to 200?

Thank you!

FA has used different elevation adjustments. On yours, how many clicks per revolution?

Not sure how helpful this could be but here goes:
My FA is 44mag Silhouette model 83 where I have the adjustable front post hooded and rear sight is ISGW

ISGW on my FA has a revolution of 24 clicks
At the Paul Bunyan Range the Chickens are level - Pigs are up about 5 feet - Turkeys are up about another 5 feet - Rams are up about 15 feet from Turkeys. So Chickens at level Pigs at 5 feet, Turkeys at 10 feet and Rams at 25 feet total. This is my best guestimate but someone else may have a more accurate account.

So my settings that I use are Chickens at 5 clicks from "0" Pigs add 3 clicks = 8 Turkeys add 9 clicks = 17 Rams add 11 clicks = 28

I use the Sierra 220 FPJ Tournament, 24.5gr of 4227 & CCI-350 I haven't shot my 40 yet but I am still having fun knocking over the steel. It's just a matter of time and more practice because I know the pistol is capable and I am the one pulling the trigger.

This is great information for comparison purposes. Thank you for sharing.

So far, I am comfortable with my 50m 0 and my first take at 100m is +4 clicks. So we are comparable. I will be curious to see how 150 and 200 stack up.

Again, your feedback is much appreciated.
