A few years ago, one of our local club members was diagnosed with a fast moving brain cancer. He arranged for a good friend to work with his widow and donated all his gun gear to our club to be sold and for the all the proceeds to go to our club general fund. His donation was generous, and allowed us to grow our facility.
Another member recently survived a major heart attack. He hopes to be shooting rimfire again by the spring. In the meantime, he too has donated a large part of his gun gear (he was about to go into business as a commercial reloader) and our club is again benefitting from the generosity of a member.
Anyone else out there had something like this at their club? Donating a large part of your gun gear or setting aside something in your will for a club that you've had membership with for decades seems like a good way to help benefit generations to come, assuming your family is appropriately provided for.
