Ihmsa news

Post by ramslammer »

IF you pay the fee to get the paper printed and sent to you the way it used to be do you get a paper or do you have to wait months to get one? I have been part of this organization since 1983 supported and promoted it at every turn. We have almost no members in Wisconsin anymore, mostly because they are fed up with membership but no paper. They say it isn't worth joining if they don't even get to see their name in the paper. I am the match dir. at the ONLY club still shooting sanctioned matches, have been for many years and am about to call it quits too. It's been a good run great sport and people but all the work hardly seems worth it anymore.

I believe you are right. We first started losing members when they went up on the dues to $50.00. The dues came back down, but we no longer get a paper. The days are very short for the org, I'm afraid.

There is a section titled : Talk with the President. Your concerns may have more impact there. rp
I have served as assistant match director, Southern Silhouette club, 1980s. Also, the Griffin Gun Club for Silhouette during the 1990s, to about 2005. For a short period I authored the ''Cast Bullet'' section of The IHMSA News. Joined IHMSA March 1979.

Richard, I doubt it ! Our President has not posted on his forum since April 2016 !! The officers of IHMSA have stated that they do not want to conduct business and discussions on the internet - and yet they "forced" the IHMSA News to become an online newsletter. So, what is going on ? -- who knows !! [-(

We have had some hurdles to over come as a organization. My oldest son Jared will be taking the newsletter over after the internationals. Hopefully our match Directors will be able to email match results, and NOT send them in hand written.
Sorry for any inconvenience the delays have caused you.

I appreciate all the work from everyone involved, but I think we are just missing the boat by not using social media.
The FB page for IHMSA already has much more posts than this web based site.
Like it or not, social media is here to stay, and you either go with the flow, or get left behind.
I never understood the logic of the executive officers refusing to discuss matters on here. It is the only way some can discuss things,w because apparently, the only discussions are at the the world Championships , and not many of us make that Match anymore.
Just my opinion, it is worth what you paid for it! :)

I am curious how many IHMSA members have actually logged onto this forum. Some of the older members don't even own or use computers. I guess that is why some members still wanted the printed paper. I'm sure many of the posts of FB are probably NOT IHMSA members either. Social media is the rage these days but I still don't think it would reach all our members. I get so tired of seeing the junk on FB and don't go there very often. It has it purpose I guess but that doesn't make it the best way to serve ALL our members. Even this forum is only frequented by a small percentage of our members. Just check out the alias list and you will see what I mean. No one size fits all solution.
