What's your handle mean?

Post by Boomer »

We all have interesting & unique handles. Some the meaning is rather obvious, others not so much.

Just out of curiosity what meaning does everyones handle have? Don't be shy, "I liked the sound of it" is a perfectly honorable reason.

Mine is Boomer, I picked it up as a nickname back when I was in the Army. My unit thought it would be beneficial to have someone on the team with demolitions training. I was the smartest guy stupid enough to play with explosive they could find.

Long story short I had a habit of using allot more explosives than was necessary to accomplish a given task. After a couple of tremendous BOOMS the guys started calling me Boomer & it stuck the rest of my days.

Bob

Mine is rather obvious..the highest score attainable at a silhouette match. I've shot a few of them over the years. It is also my KY license plate.

When I joined the old IHMSA message board I needed a user name. So trying to think of one I remembered a new shooter asked me my highest score ever. I told him no matter how hard I tried I said "35 is it" thats about the best I can do.

The 2002 Internationals in TUSCO was the first year that AIR was shot an an International. My Unlimited score was 79x80 & high enough to win the International championship. The missed target was a turkey. So, 19 Turkeys is more about the one that got away than the 19 I hit. (My Production score of 77x80 was also high enough to take the International championship.) Those are the two scores I am the proudest of.

Mine isn't quite as colorful as most, but being a retired meat cutter it seemed to fit. A knife in my hand for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week for 34 years, just seemed right. Needless to say, I've been called a lot of things, some nicer than others.

Smokin7mm refers to my first XP-100 for silhouette shooting in 7BR. Got the gun, worked up loads for cast bullets and proceeded to shoot my first 40x40 the first match out with it.

Well the first handgun I ever owned was a Ruger Single Six. Despite being known as an XP 100 shooter, every handgun we own besides the bolt guns are Rugers. So, I gues it can be said that first, last and Always a Shooter of the handguns of Bill Ruger

Mine comes from a long time ago, and is made from a couple of things... I grew up in a VERY rural area and our family brand was the Rocking H. I used to race NASCAR online and needed to come up with a team name. Rockin' H Racin' was born...
