List of Production Guns

I have read several posts in the forum that refer to a list of Production guns - small bore, field pistol, big bore, and air guns. It is also stated in the rules that "The Evaluation Committee shall have the responsibility for determining the category in which any new model handgun will compete. Handguns and/or accessories will be allowed to compete in Production categories if so determined by the Evaluation Committee to meet Production handgun rules and requirements; otherwise, such equipment shall be eligible to compete in Unlimited categories only." If every gun has to go through the Evaluation Committee before it can be used in a production category, there must be a list of acceptable production legal guns and accessories. Does anyone have that list? To be fair to all IHMSA shooters this list should be public and printed in the rules or the IHMSA News at least once a year.

Even though this area is still in the rule book I suspect there has not been any guns evaluated in the last 10 years or maybe more. In the very early days of IHMSA this was supposed to guarantee that only TRUE production available guns could be used in the production type categories. With the advent of ordering production legal guns and ones that are not on the shelf at your local dealers (MOAs, FAs, BFs and even TCs these days) this section of the rules doesn't carry the same meaning as it did years ago. I doubt if anyone even knows where the last list of production approved guns is at this point. As you stated, if this list does exist, then it should be posted on the IHMSA site somewhere. It would also be nice to know what the evaluation committee is considering. For that matter. what are all the committees working on? Good point!!!!
