Production Gun use in UAS

Post by Flash+ »

Hi,

We hold competitions twice and month and some competitors may have two production guns. As we only permit them to compete for score in a category once is there anything stopping them from competing in UAS with their second gun using open sights.

In the rule book it states that any production gun qualifies to be used in Unlimited competition.

I have been told by some members at the club that this is not allowed but the rules appear too indicate otherwise.

Thanks

Perfectly legal. In fact the rule book gives you the order in which multiple classes are to be shot.

Sorry I should have stated that this is for Field Pistol in the original question but I don't think that make a difference anyway :D

Most UAS competitors wouldn't mind if someone wished to use their Production entry in UAS. UAS isn't about hitting all the big targets; it is about winning the shoot-off. For the person who may only have one gun (maybe new to this), shooting it in Prod, Unl, UAS, and Standing (also half scale if they just cant get enough), makes good use of their equipment.

I've been doing that for decades. No problem.

When I first joined IHMSA all I had was a 71/2" Ruger SBH in 44Mag, I shot it in Revolver, Production, Standing and Unlinited!
Still got the Ruger.
