Hello i am thinking about competing in the Metallic silhouette shooting more specially the Big Bore division.
But i have a couple of questions about the guns and ammunition that can be used i own three Ruger revolvers and all 3 of them are chambered in .357 magnum and they are the following models
Ruger GP100 stainless steel with a 4 inch barrel
Ruger sp101 stainless steel with a 3 inch barrel
Ruger sp101 stainless steel with a 2.25 inch barrel
and the ammunition that i want to use is federal American Eagle Handgun 357 Magnum 158 grain Jacketed Soft Point
Now here are my question? can i compete with any of the revolvers on this list?
And can i use this ammunition?
questions?
Re: questions?
Your guns have short barrels which might work in the field pistol class! You could possibly try them in big bore, but you would be handicapped! Go to a match and try it!!
Re: questions?
Thank you for your help
Re: questions?
In all honesty, you're pretty handicapped with the short barrels, especially in big bore. You can put a simple red dot optic on a gun (I would choose the longest barrel) or a pistol scope and shoot Field Pistol. The targets are smaller but closer. Give it a try, better yet, go to a match and no doubt a shooter will offer to let you take a few shots thru his gun. If you like it, go from there. Good Luck!!

I would like to thank all of you for your replies to my thread But I have several additional questions.
1. I am a wheelchair bound individual can I compete sitting in my wheelchair?
2. Can I use factory Ammunition?
3. How long do the matches take place? Do they take place over a period of several days or just one day.
4. Is there any sort of designated break Time during the matches so a participant or participants can eat or drink some fluids and use the bathroom.
5. I know that the targets are set from 50 meters and all the way out to 200 meters.
And that the targets are silhouettes of
chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams
At what distances are these various targets set at
In the big bore division?
