Mentioned above -- that the shooter shoots the UAS category and wonder about if the attempt has been made in the UASHS category with the 221 Fireball and producing any target damage on the half size critters.
Has anyone in past years used the 221 and attempted to do reduced loads and found any successful results with accuracy using the standard Remington stock barrel and also not to cause target damage ??

Barrel is original 60's vintage. Load of 15.5g is less than listed max of 16+g. Shoots 5/8" groups at 100 yards with 50-55g bullets.

UAS and UASHS events

No damage on older (non-500 grade) targets at 2 different ranges.

Fantastic information and I am writing this down to add to my reloading book.

Thank you very much for the details and now I can begin my journey with my "Experimental Pistol" and see what happens for fun and nostalgia.

One last note: I have some 55g FMJ from 223 unloads. I will be testing them on rams ONLY to deposit as much energy into the target and less into bullet fragmentation.

Pat-- you said 15.5 grains, but what powder? Please be specific. I recently acquired an MGM barrel and would like a starting point that won't damage targets. Thanks in advance!
