new UAS, UASHS Big Bore gun

Post by braud357 »

I wonder if it is legal ?? 7 TCU for "flop" - I have been using this fore end for 7 years on all of my "flop" guns - smallbore, Practical Hunter, and Big Bore. I do not rest the gun on top of my forearm - I grasp the fore end the same way that you would grasp a rifle - with my hand underneath. Opinions ? Discussion ?

The proposed rule change that complicates life with a tall bore axis from the ground would be the 2 1/2" maximum distance from bore centerline to the bottom of the forestock.

I may have to retire my manually operated AR kluges for no other reason. Unless I can figure out a good way to go "gangsta" style with them, too. Back to the nasty ole XP-100s. (Expensive and barrel swaps are a bother.)

Let me get this straight:
>2.5" stock below the bore is illegal in UNLIMITED
but
>4" Ken Light high rise scope mounts are legal in PRODUCTION FPAS.

I posted this topic in jest - I have been shooting this set-up on a Contender platform for many years - swapping this fore arm between my .22LR Match, my MGM 22 Hornet, and my Big Bore guns. The proposed rule change will make this configuration illegal (because of the fore end height - measurement to center-of-bore). I have talked to a lot of people about this, and had some meaningful discussions with several members of the board. I do not agree with the proposed rule change and have decided that I will not comply if implemented. I have been cautious about stating my position on this, but here it is. If it is passed, I will simply shoot my guns as non-sanctioned entries just for fun ! I have developed some physical problems over the past few years, and I have finally found something that I can shoot comfortably. So, if the "powers that be" are successful in changing the rules, I will begin to travel another course. I probably will not be able to travel to a regional or International match again, so I will shoot for fun ! So be it !
