Resurrected a old friend !

Post by braud357 »

I wanted to add another scoped gun to my silhouette arsenal, so I decided to scope my old Dan Wesson 357 Magnum. Problem is - all of the scope mounts for these guns have been discontinued. I talked to several people about options, and did some research. After talking to a machinist friend, he offered to help. I purchased a 12" picantinny rail from EBAY to modify . We decided that we could make 2 mounts, so I could have another mount if the need ever arises. He milled a slot on the bottom of the rail to straddle the raised rib (my shroud is a Heavy - no vent rib). Then he milled the rearward part of the rail for frame clearance. The shroud was drilled and tapped for (2) 10x32 mounting screws. I wanted the scope to be as close to the bore as possible, so the rear sight was removed. The finished product looks awesome, and should work well. Mounted a Tasco Custom Shop 30mm 7x scope with dot reticle. This gun has been sitting in my safe for about 15 years - it will be interesting to see if this old warrior still has some fight left in it. Will give it a whirl in UAS next season !

That's a cool looking setup. Nice to see the old .357 back out and getting some love.

I thought about you when I saw these. Pretty good price on discontinued bullets

Thanks for the "heads-up" Melvin ! I am sitting on almost 1000 of these, and - being realistic, I think that they will see me to the end of my silhouette days. I appreciate you letting me know !!
