What he Said, but its cool. I have mentioned this before, my BFR in 45-70 with full power loads is much more pleasant to shoot, but i am not giving up on the ol wichita! I tried some trail boss with 11 grains today, was pretty nice, will be trying h4895 this weekend. But i have to remill a new scope base, it was off a bit and my press lost the endmill while shaving some off and ruined the base! Grrr, now i have to make a whole new one and go through the process of the right contour again.... Oh well.

Many years ago Pachmayr made a conversion upper for a 1911 to shoot rifle cartridges. It didn't go over very well for the same recoil reasons you are experiencing with your Wichita.
1911 grip angle works great for 45s and other pistol cartridges but really become handfuls when using rifle like cartridges.
Too bad since the Wichita break open pistol is such a well built pistol.

I had a Contender in in 7-R. As stated above it is in effect a 7x30 waters. It came out about a year before the 7x30 became a factory round. The 7x30 all but killed the 7-R.

Yep, but it is quite pleasant to shoot with trail boss. I bought the thing a month or so ago from a guy that inherited it from his grandpa when he passed. The grand son was afraid to shoot it. I got it for 250 including a 200 dollar redding deluxe die set. It was too cheap to pass up. And it right up my alley with being very odd. A guy from cast boolit(or so he claims)s won a state silhouette competition with his last year. I dont know how you would do that since it very hard to control with healthy loads and very hard to get on target. Most of my plinking will be done from now on with trail boss until i master the recoil with stout loads.

actually, I find my Wichita very well balanced for shooting standing. everybody gets a laugh watching me shoot it though as every once in a while, I take 2 steps back after firing it. Mine in 357SM, I am shooting a 204GR Cast bullet at about 1600 FPS.

BTW, I also paid $250 for mine. People are scared to shoot them, But I like mine.

As soon as I get the website attachments fixed on the website here, I have some load data to post for the 7R..

I'm thinking Pete Rogers former Georgia state director campaigned one of those for years. I don't know the caliber for sure but believe it was a 7-IntR. I know he shot it pretty well. Are there any loads in the old Shooting Steel book.

I can't find ammo for my newly acquired Wichita Arms 7mm int-r. Does anyone have clue how to find any?

If all else fails, contact Steve Bishop he sells flash drives that covers IHMSA from 1977-2016.
I had all of the IHMSA news paper issues from 1980-2016.I dumped them after buying the flash drive. I’ve been on the flash drive regularly and find a lot of old pics & some of the super stars of the past.
There’s probably a post for the Wichita & information on the ammo. **==
