Does anybody know if somebody still sells an external bolt release for an XP? ten years ago I could find them everywhere, now I can find none! :(

There are a couple available. Brownells sells the plunger Sinclair style that goes on the left side of the of th action and sticks out a little. It requires a single larger hole to be drilled and tapped of course.
Tim McNally of Wichita Arms sells the flat bolt release like is found on the Wichita. They also attach to the left side of the action. It requires two holes be drilled. One which is tapped and the other for the small plunger to slide through. You also need to drill a small depression hole for the spring to rest in.

McNally's email is Mcnally2@ckt.net

Name of his company is Mac's Gunsmithing.

Check with Dell Taylor, I think he made some bullet shaped bolt releases a little while back

I'll sell you the one off mine for cost of Priority shipping. I'm going to have a recessed release installed.
