Blued Contender frame and Armoloy barrel.

I'm looking into a trade deal for a 30-30 Armoloy barrel. I have a blued g1 frame. I know that the AA barrels have a slightly smaller pin diameter, but did a little googling and found One post that a guy had opened up the barrel using nothing more than 600 or 800 grit sandpaper, dowel rod and lapping compound. as anyone had any experience doing this or any thoughts about it.
