New, what is a good production big bore caliber?

I'm all for getting new shooters into this great sport and very good advise was given,but I don't want to throw a wrench into this post,but the op did state that he was 14 and I don't know how legal it would be for him to show up at a match with a handgun or even shoot someone else's gun without a legal guardian present . If a legal guardian is there, absolutely go for it.
