I received a call from IHMSA legend David Bradshaw last night, and he informed me of a match that is going to be held at The Fusilier Complex in Arnauldville, LA, near Lafayette, LA. He is trying to drum up some interest in handgun silhouette shooting at this club, which descended from the Hub City Rifle and Pistol Club in Lafayette. The match will be non-sanctioned, and will also be pretty much "anything goes" - any handgun over 22 centerfire, any sights (open or scope), and any safe shooting position (creedmoor, prone, "dead frog"), etc. Sandbags, bipods, and rests are allowed (no cradles or gun-holding rests allowed. Entries will be limited to 36 participants, and pre-registration is recommended. Entry fees are $10 per entry - multiple entries only if space allows. This will be an informal match - no trophies or awards, and no declared winners. Just a fun day shooting steel ! This will be very similar in format to an IHMSA match with these exceptions - current range set-up will only accommodate targets at 50, 100, and 200 yards. The turkey silhouettes will be mixed in with the pigs and rams - and you might have as many as eight targets in a bank. Another change is that you can fire as many rounds you might need to clear a bank - as long as you do it in the allowed 2 minute firing time. We have not shot IHMSA Big-bore in south Louisiana since Hub City closed in 2001, so this may be an opportunity to rekindle some interest in handgun silhouette. Go to http://www.thefusiliercomplex.com for match info and pre-registration info. Charlie and I plan to attend - hope to see you there ! Philip Braud Louisiana IHMSA Director

Philip, Sounds like a fun match. Turkeys at 200 will be interesting and shoot all you can in two minutes will keep the line hopping. Hope this leads to more IHMSA matches in LA. Have fun.

Hi Philip, my first Silhouette match was at the Twins Peak Silhouette Club, Walsenberg, Co, in 1980. I was surprised and glad when you mentioned IHMSA legend David Bradshaw who I last saw at the 1993 Internationals in Tennessee! What a great person he is and the things he did for IHMSA. I wonder if you could send him my contact: moraes@aemfpar.com.br. Antonio Moraes ex-IHMSA Director for Brazil.
