7x30 waters cast bullet extending into neck? good/bad?

I'm reloading for 7x30 waters and using the lee 130 grain GC in a 14" contender barrel. I've got the bullet out as far as it will go while still being able to lock the barrel up. The GC and one driving band extend past the neck into the shoulder area. I've read countless articles on this and th...

Thompson to start selling contenders in spring

I just got off the phone with Thompson Center asking about converting my older styled frame to the easy open frame and was told they no longer offered that service. Gonna have to find a newer frame, which means now i gotta spend MORE money! But i digress... During the conversation the rep said Thomp...

Re: wtb contender barrel locking lug/bolt

i called Thompson recently and since they are now owned by Smith and Wesson they no longer do any work on contenders, especially old ones like mine. gone are the days that Thompson would convert a frame like mine to the new, easier open frames. i was told to find a gunsmith that worked on contenders...

7BR 130 cast boolet loads with RL-7 for xp-100

I haven't done a chamber impression for the xp yet, but i want to shoot this xp, cause i just got it from a good friend of mine and it's driving me crazy not to be able to shoot it! SOOO, anyone have some good starting load data using RL-7 pushing a GC 130 grain?

Thanks

Re: xp 100 7br fmj barrel

OK thanks high standard for the web link, thanks marshal for the gator info, ill research them. i used hornady GC on my rcbs 168 and seated them in my sizer too, that's why i was so disappointed when they'd go flying off the bullet! they worked so good on the .357! I'll get the stuff needed for that...

Re: xp 100 7br fmj barrel

Great responses thanks so much. Now of course I have lots more questions for all of you. I have been casting bullets for a goodly amount of years for my handguns that I use to shoot combat style, that is various .357 and.45 acp. I used to shoot silhouette in the early 80's and have my one and only 4...

xp 100 7br fmj barrel

I just acquired an xp-100 in 7br and I want to shoot CB's through it. The xp has had nothing but a steady diet of fmj and has seen more than a few 40's, 60's and 80's shot from its previous owner. I know it's not gonna be a good idea to just start shooting CB's through that barrel, so what can I do ...
