Re: What exactly are we paying for?

Tefrey, Dues are around 2/3rd's to 3/4's used for all the costs associated with publishing the IHMSA News, and all associated mail costs (both News and all other correspondence including your annual membership cards). IHMSA News has always been the largest single on-running expense that IHMSA has ha...

Re: IHMSA pins--nostalgia

Guys, These pins should be available at every International match. Iowa Hqtrs brought them, as did I when I ran Hqtrs for the years I ran it! They maybe were laid aside, and just forgotten about! I also think it is high time that we as members start the fund raisers (Donations to the general fund) i...

Re: IHMSA T shirts

Gentlemen, Funny to see this come full circle again. For the newer members of the forum, or IHMSA. The yellow logo was the original, and was drawn up in contest some 30-35 years ago. After the contest winner was decided it was made IHMSA's standard. Shortly after Elgin Gates copyrighted it (sadly in...

Re: Bullet Shape Vs Accuracy

Xterrettx, Over the first couple decades of IHMSA there was lots of research done about what made some revolvers shoot better. Many theories were expunged in the pages of the Silhouette, or IHMSA News. There was much discussion about throat diameters on cylinders vs. bore diameters, alignment of eac...

Re: Bullet Shape Vs Accuracy

Xterrettx, Bullets for made for hunting are not the best to use for Silhouettes! They are made to fragment, or explode, which doesn't work for knocking over Rams in IHMSA. Just find two of the same weight, and work it out that way! As someone said, use bulk Remington, or Winchester bullets for Silho...

Re: Bullet Shape Vs Accuracy

Xterrettx, Best advice I can give is focus on your reloading for accuracy, and in a revolver it is no easy matter. More important than bullet shapes are your reloading technics. You should focus on case length probably first, and foremost. A forester case trimmer probably works the best of all brand...

Re: What ammo for FA 22?

Since we're all pretty generous with our opionions and sometimes ammo, go to a match, and ask if some people there would give you a 50 round box of their favorite brand of ammo to do your testing. Go to the range with your samples, and see what works best (In my opionion I'd try shooting at paper ch...

Re: What ammo for FA 22?

Standard Velocity is probably your best bet. Don’t want it tumbling somewhere in the last 25 yards or meters. RWS Target, Wolf Target, Winchester T-22 to name just a few that I've seen used over the years in Minnesota. Best to settle on one that matches your price range, and buy a case! The case pur...

Larry,

How have you been? I haven't spoken to you in quite a while, glad to see you're still slinging lead. Hope all is well!
