Re: Need target source

Ben, I would give Calvin Byers a call with Quality Targets. He has always given me great and fast service. :) Funny you should recommend Quality Targets. I dug into their web site and they offer 1/2 scale targets that are 1/2" thick. All I have to do is see if they'll attach larger feet for me...

Re: Need target source

Why thicker? Some friends and I are experimenting with a different course of fire, one that concentrates on power. Our goal is to have a target that will usually but not always fall when hit with a .500 S&W 700-grain load at 50 meters. Based on my calculations, a 1/2" or thicker ram will be...

Need target source

I apologize if this info is already somewhere on the forum; I've searched but been unable to find it. I'd like to purchase two 1/2-scale rams of AR500 steel. Swingers without feet are preferred; I already have steel for the feet. The targets must be at least 1/2" thick. 3/4" is preferred. ...

Sight radius when there are no sights

Where the rules address allowable modifications to Production pistols, they say (at VI.A.9.A) "Replacement sights may not extend the original sight radius by more than 1 inch." So, wha'ts the "original sight radius" if the pistol in question originally came without sights? For ex...

Re: Wichita Silhouette Pistol

note: wichita's have the same hole spacing as a remington XP100 or 700. they just have a different diameter on the action. No, they changed spacing at one point during production. The problem is that they don't know exactly when (at what serial #) they changed hole spacing and they don't know what ...

Re: Wichita Silhouette Pistol

Long story, so I'll not tell it and be reasonably brief. Wichita has no idea how to mount a scope on their own bolt pistols. They've long ago lost the specs or for unknown reasons choose to ignore the spacing of the holes drilled and tapped into their receivers. I've tried to get scope mounts from t...

Re: Semi-production = production class legal?

Thanks to all for the input. On a side note, the picture of the pistol is no longer appearing on this page for me. It worked for a while; now it doesn't. For anyone who brings up this thread after I post this - Do you see the photo of the OPA pistol above? Or is there just a blank line after the &qu...

Semi-production = production class legal?

There are any number of "boutique" builders turning out semi-production pistols, essentially starting with a base from an established brand and adding all their own parts to complete the pistol. Everybody knows that lots of AR makers do this. So do lots of 1911 pistol makers. So is this ht...

Re: ANSCHÜTZ barrel replacement?

Good luck with this, Calfee was the only one doing this and his wait is probably over a year and the cost would be several thousand dollars, ... My understanding is that they're no longer made; that might explain what I saw elsewhere recently. There was a Calfee .22 XP in the benchrest.com classifi...
