Re: 7mm Herrett?

I think the "classic" series of cartridges are basically a 25, 6.5mm, 7mm, etc Herrett. They look necked down 30 Herretts not 357 Herretts to me. MGM chambers for them and dies are available from Varmint Den I think it is. They're the ones that promoted the rounds.

Re: Saline Creek Silhouette, Goldonna, LA.

I went to the June match up there and we had a great turnout. Well worth the 2.5? hr trip from Lafayette. Just need to remember to bring a little bug spray next time cause I had a few red bugs munching on my legs for the ride home :)

Re: LeveRevolution and the .357 Herrett

Since nobody else has chimed in, looking at the burn rate charts, LE might be a little on the slow side for the 357H. I use H4198 and it really pops with 180's. In Hodgdons data they show IMR4198 as clearly the fastest powder with 200's so that leads me to think LE might not be all that well suited....

Looking good. That white background really makes the targets pop out.

Re: 7mm IHMSA... No cartridge for quikload?

I've seen some people shooting a 7 Creedmoor now. If that's in there it would be pretty close I think.

Re: 7.5x55mm

Has anyone put 7.5x55 in a contender?
It's possible it's been done before but it certainly isn't a safe round to use. In 30 caliber, the 309 JDJ is probably at the top of the heap when it comes to performance in a Contender.

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

I'd just use the regular reloading data you have. The velocities listed are for rifle length barrels but other than that, barrel length isn't a factor in the data. I had a 260 handgun but sold it. I'd sure like to do another 6.5 and would probably do the Creedmore next time. I'd be interested to hea...

Re: 7.5x55mm

I load for a K31 a little bit. IMR 4064 is popular and seems to be one the go to powders in the 7.5 Swiss. I've been using AA2520 with Nosler 168 CC's because I have a lot of it on hand but don't think it's a great choice. If you haven't bought dies yet I'd go with the Redding K31 dies. As far as I ...

Re: Highest velocity powder 7mm TCU

Yep, tagged this 10 point that was just shy of 200# with that 357 Herrett. The powder was a max charge of H4198 under a 180 gr XTP. Don't recall what that charge is off-hand but I think the velocity is in the 1850 fps ballpark. Granted that shot was only about 20 yrds, but after seeing what it did t...
